    Vasque.

REI coop also sells their own brand — of which I have. They are OK, but if I had the money, I’d get a pair of Vasque boots.

Make sure you spend the money for a good set of in-soles also. I made that mistake backpacking the Grand Canyon. My boots were good, but with cheap in-soles I ended up with blisters, anyway.

I would pick Vasque, also. I’ve had mine for years and they have been thru alot :) You should break them in for sure before you go. It may take some time, especially if you are not used to hiking boots.
I didn’t get any special insole for mine. But you should keep them waterproofed, you can get the wax from the shoe store.

the best brand of boots are the ones that best fit your foot. Go to a store and try on boots and ask questions. EMS has very good boot fitters so does REI.
