argh.pirate asked: I don’t want to wake up shivering at night but it’s 71 degrees now with a high of 78 and a low tonight of 48. Is it going to be too cold to camp comfortably? I don’t want to have to dress up like it’s winter. When in southern Ohio does the low reach around 65-75?

I know people who have already camped this year already (I’m from SW Ohio)…
Just layer your clothes… with a good sleeping bag and in a tent, you should be OK… but do take a winter coat, just in case… depends on the ground.. if there is dampness, you will be colder… (if it’s rained recently)…
I personally would camp in this type of weather then in mid summer…. when it’s cooler, I think it’s more enjoyable… nice fire to sit around at night when it’s chilly is better then when it’s 80 degrees and humid at night
No that is not to cold. Last weekend I was out in Minnesota and it was around 40 at night. With some good planing you can have fun and be warm with out all of your winter gear. A 32 degree sleeping bag will keep you warm at night. If you are worried about it simply take a blanket along with you. Since 48 is not that cold just take alog a swet shirt or some long sleeve t-shirts. Just layer your clothing. During the day you can probably get by with just a t-shirt. I think that would be wonderfull weather to camp in personally.
u can camp ne where at ne temp it just depends on how much u like doing it
A low of 45-50 in a good quality sleeping bag is plenty warm. Just make sure you’ve got the right equipment.
According to weather.com, the average lows in Southern Ohio won’t reach the mid 60s until the end of May.
I run a Blog for outdoor recreation in NE Ohio: Check out the sleeping bag post below for more information.
